Paul F. Vang – Author

Paul Vang grew up around dogs and pheasants on a farm in southern Minnesota. After graduating from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, he had a 33-year career as a manager with the Social Security Administration. After leaving government service he launched a second career as a freelance writer and columnist.

In addition to weekly newspaper columns, his work has been published in many magazines, including Montana Outdoors, North Dakota Outdoors, Kiwanis, Wheelin’ Sportsmen, Blue Ridge, and Distinctly Montana. He has won awards from the Outdoor Writers Association of America and Montana Newspaper Association.

Paul is a past Board member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America and a past president of the Northwest Outdoor Writers Association.

Paul and his wife, Kay, and black Lab, Kiri, live in Butte, Montana, close to good hunting and fly-fishing.

Kevin Vang – Illustrator

Illustrations are by the author’s son, Kevin Vang. In his day job, he’s a professor of mathematics at Minot State University, Minot, North Dakota. In his free time he is an avid outdoorsman, often hunting and fishing with Paul in North Dakota and Montana.
